DuPont increases glass reinforced Zytel® nylon capacity
Geneva, June 15, 2015 – DuPont Performance Polymers has increased production capacity of DuPont™ Zytel® PA 66 and PA 6 at its Uentrop facility in Hamm, Germany by 20 per cent to meet growing demand primarily in the global automotive industry.  Lightweight, high-performance Zytel® nylon often replaces metal in automotive components and is at the leading edge of industry efforts to improve fuel efficiency, lower CO2 emissions and enable sustainable mobility.

The flexible coolant pipe application was nominated for a Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Automotive Div.  ‘Most Innovative Use of Plastics Award’ in the Chassis & Hardware category.  Winners will be announced at the annual awards banquet in Livonia, Michigan, on Nov. 12.

Rapid growth expected in adoption of HFO-1234yf

DuPont Lightweight Material Replaces Metal in New Engine Component. Component Improves Fuel Efficiency, Named ‘Finalist’ in Most Innovative Use of Plastics Awards
Geneva, December 2013. The new Ford 3.5L and 3.7L engine manifold uses a cross-over coolant component made of DuPont™ Zytel® HTN PPA resin instead of brazed metal, shaving one pound to improve fuel economy.
